America’s premier funny man and the Tony Award-winning composer of A Chorus Line collaborated on this hit musical; a funny, romantic show about an wisecracking composer finding finds a new, offbeat lyricist. Professionally, their relationship works beautifully, but personally, romance blossoms, conflict rears its head, and comic sparks fly. The story is based on the real-life relationship of Hamlisch and Sager. They're Playing Our Song opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre on February 11, 1979, where it ran for 1,082 performances
