About This Event
The Indigo Blue Workshop is the first workshop of 2026 about natural dyes grown right here on our farm. The event will be held outdoors and includes all supplies and materials. You will learn the basics of natural dye, about Indigo blue, how we grow it, and best harvest practices. For this workshop, you will harvest your own indigo blue leaves, and learn how to use the salt method of extracting the indigo dye from the plant’s leaves. Once you have observed how it is done, you will create a unique silk scarf design which can range in color from light blue to teal depending on the leaves’ saturation. Each person will take home a one-of-a-kind creation and the knowledge on how to use natural dyes.
The indigo leaves are a natural dye and will stain your clothes and hands. Additionally, this is an outdoor event, so dress comfortably and wear clothes you are not worried about getting stained. Light refreshments will be served. Come and join us for a day of outdoor relaxation and creation. We hope to see you there!
