About This Event
Rock gardening is an exciting avenue for gardeners to try new plants within a number of settings, all involving rocks in many different forms. This class will be led by Kyle Sonnenberg who serves on the board of the Piedmont Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society. Kyle’s rock gardens at Sunny Mount (his home in Southern Pines) include a crevice garden, scree gardens, and a number of trough gardens.
In the class, Kyle will present an overview of the various forms of rock gardening. There will also be an opportunity for each participant to construct their own tabletop rock garden to take home following the class.
With your class registration, you will receive a copy of “A Rock Garden Handbook for Beginners” published by the North American Rock Garden Society. Any participants under the age of 40 will receive free membership in the Piedmont Chapter with access to seven lectures each year at the Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh.
His gardens will be open for a tour on the day following the class. There is no charge for the tour, but we ask that you register so we know how many people to expect. See registration on the website events page: https://www.sandhills.edu/horticultural-gardens/upcoming-events.html
