The incredible journey of the Honorable Cheryl L. Mason began amidst the picturesque foothills of Appalachia in Portsmouth, Ohio. Cheryl learned early that life’s challenges present opportunities to overcome difficulties and impact others. Undeterred by rejection from Ohio to Nebraska to Germany and ultimately DC, Cheryl defied all odds to become the first woman and military spouse Chairman of the VA Board of Veterans Appeals. With her genuine relational leadership, Cheryl supported her team and drove innovation. Her dedication transformed a struggling federal agency into a high-functioning organization, yielding concrete results and boosting trust and morale among employees. As a speaker and leader, Cheryl inspires others by sharing her experiences of perseverance and viewing obstacles as stepping stones. Cheryl earned a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Ohio Northern University and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law. She is the spouse of a US Air Force veteran. Cheryl enjoys golfing and walking their dogs.
