Join us for an evening of celebration with a special free screening of the iconic 1996 film THE BIRDCAGE at the CAMEO Art House Theatre. Transport yourself back to the vibrant world of South Beach, Miami, as we follow the hilarious and heartwarming story of love, family, and acceptance. This event will take place on June 29th at 8PM following the FAYETTEVILLE PRIDE FEST 2024. Best drag contest will promptly follow the screening. RSVP is required as seating is limited!
THE BIRDCAGE tells the tale of Armand Goldman (played by Robin Williams), the owner of a popular drag club, and his partner Albert (played by Nathan Lane), who is the star attraction of the club. Their lives are turned upside down when their son, Val (played by Dan Futterman), announces his engagement to the daughter of a conservative politician. As the two families come together for a dinner party, chaos ensues as Armand and Albert scramble to conceal their flamboyant lifestyle from their future in-laws. Directed by Mike Nichols and based on the hit French play "La Cage aux Folles," "Birdcage" is a delightful comedy that explores themes of love, identity, and the meaning of family. With its witty dialogue, memorable characters, and heartfelt moments, this film has become a beloved classic that continues to resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
